Black Death - 350kThe title cut. Crunch, crunch, kill, kill.
A ponderous boomer of a song, backed with thunder and lightning, sounds of battle, and screams from the grave.
Fast, intricate instrumental work. Although there are vocals, the dominant theme of this piece is guitar, bass, and drums.
A bit of an eerie, atmospheric piece.
Black Death, the plague. "Ring around the rosie, pockets full of posies - ashes, ashes, we all fall down. " The traditional nursery rhyme, was written about the bubonic plague, purportedly in an attempt to lessen it's impact on children.
Into Battle - 255kThis might be considered our theme song; as we do battle against pseudo music and pansy assed upstarts.
"The fountain sprays blood this night, our blades have sung a thirsty tune..." ah, the old days of honor and battle, face to face with the enemy...not like today. Today the enemy is largely unseen, and difficult to define. The world is a bit too complicated for the traditional virtues.
The opening cut of the first lp. The song leads off with the thundering of hooves and cries on the wind, and boils into the chunk of power presented here.
This track, while listed on the album, is only available on the Steamhammer version, or the cd. It was accidently omitted from the American version, to Jack's (and our) chagrin. Here it is, in it's entirety.
Beware the Dark Rider who wears the Brocas Helm. Is he good or evil, or just a Primal Force?
I've always felt that this piece of the Dark Rider was sent to me by Goddesses or muses working for them. It was written one day when I was highly emotional, and I used it to burn off my feelings. It's always special to me.
A monster power piece, filled with dynamics, drum and bass solos. We often use this as the final song of the set, or an encore.
Jack Hays on the drums! Not your average drummer...
