June 8, 2003 - today we tore down the recording gear, and set up for intensive live practice. Yep, it's almost time to storm Germany...less than 6 weeks until the assault. Still haven't chosen a weapon for the tour - I was hoping to use a Norton bass, but it probably won't be ready in time (Hugh Norton is building it for me, it's very very cool). Still, you never know.

However, I spent all my free cash on the plane tickets, and work is slow at the moment; I need to make a few dollars -

So it's your second shot at the Wizard's collection; amazing, obscure, wondrous and disastrous records; on the vinyl metal was meant to be pressed on. On these lists, a few items are gone, and a few are not for sale - I'll take offers on the others, but once again I remind you - nothing is cheap. No bargains. Nope. But you might find that rare gem you've always wanted to hear. Take a look.

March 2003

O, there's big news tonight. We've officially confirmed Brocas Helm at the Keep It True Festival, on July 19th. This is our first German show. If you're anywhere in the vicinity of Germany at that time, why don't you come on down....I hear there's a special medieval set for us to battle upon. If you want to check it out, beat on the banner above.

And here's an idea we came up with. It's like this. We've got an hour to play, and way too many songs to choose from - so send us your setlist. If you could choose the songs we were going to play, what would they be, and in what order....

Who knows... the person who comes up with the closest set might get a special prize..... 1 hour, figure 12-15 songs, depending on the length of your choices. Email them to us (link at the very bottom of this page) and you never know what will happen. (Hell, I don't even know - we haven't figured that part out yet.)

Jan 2003

Yes, I'm slow on updates - just seems to be too many things to do in the world these days. But here's what I'm working on.

Ah, the new album progresses - Bob is laying down vocal and lead tracks these days, and I hear it's going faster and faster. Cry of the Banshee is nearly done, and Children of the Nova Dawn (the very first authentic BH song ever written and played; never before recorded.) I'm hoping to get The Fallen Hero/Return to Battle duo on the new one, too. Regardless, we'll be playing it this year....

On the tour. Yep, we're actually going to do it, no more excuses or delays. I imagine September or October would be a good time, eh? Current plans, no specifics, are Germany, England, and Greece. (of course we're coming back. At this point I can't imagine leaving the country without stopping there.)

So, if you want us to stop in your town, let us know. We'll see if someone can work something out. If you want to play with us, or you have a hall, pub, club, or arena, and want to put on a show, let us know. We'll take all the info, roll it into a pile, and try to sort out something that'll work for everyone.

And on a connected note - I'm feeling the need to have a bit more cash flow, not only for the tour, but because I've hocked 6 years of my life to buy a car - I'd like to get it paid off a bit sooner. So, I'm considering selling some of my record collection. No cheap prices, though. I probably won't sell anything for less than $50-100, because I don't really want to part with them anyway. (well, most of it - there's a few oddballs I don't really need.) So if you need to have that amazing, missing relic from the early days of metal, tell me what it is, and I'll let you know if I have it. (no list, would take me days to make one - maybe I'll get around to it.) Also autographed stuff. A huge Motorhead selection, picture discs and shapes, (autographed Venom I could live without), things like Cloven Hoof, Running Wild, Elixir, Legend, Axe Witch, Sacred Blade, Japanese Metal bands (like the cool actual wooden box compilation)....there are things I absolutely won't part with, like autographed Angelwitch, 7" Satan, and anything anyone has given me - I've got a rule about that.

So send me your want lists, and I'll dig through the piles. If I have something you want, and I can bear to part with, I'll let you know, and you can make me an offer.

A couple new features I'm setting up - they won't work immediately, but check back in a week or two. The Wizard's tales .... various meanderings I write down, usually when I'm selling on Ebay.... tales of things that are, were, or should be. And the Arsenal .... my (and Bob, if he gets off his ass and takes some photos) collection of stringed wonders. You know, when I was young, (700 + years back..) a musician usually only had one guitar, and it was all he needed.
For the most part, that's true. One, and a backup unit, for playing live - look, even bass players break strings. I've done it 3 times in the last 20 years, but it happens.

But nowadays, guitars are so much cheaper than days of yore - the old cheap guitars were CHEAP. The new cheap guitars, and basses, are actually playable, or can be made so with a little work. So, a hundred bucks here and there, and pretty soon you're swimming in gear. When we made the first album, I had just bought a second bass.

Now, it's over 30. Why? Because they're all different, just like women. Their value will in most instances go up. I'd rather have basses than money sitting around in a pile. (like I have piles of money.) (well, pennies.) And almost any good bass or guitar ...... has it's own song in it. You get it, take it home, play for a few hours, and it starts to trickle out of the wood. It oozes through the grain, into the amp, and hey! I'm gonna write a new song.

So, most of my stuff was inexpensively obtained (hey, my number one bass, the 62 precision, I paid $75 for - my Father helped me buy it. Go look at what it's worth these days.) Some of it's common, some of it's interesting and exotic... therefore, just because I can, a photo gallery of the weapons. Coming soon.
